Tänään saatiin historian kokeet. Sain 9-. Historia siis ilmeisesti putoaa kasiin. Mikko¹ löysi yhdestä pulpetista SERD-laskukoneen, joka laski: 5 - 3 = -2 ja 4 - 1 = -3.² Kotona laitettiin Väinämöiseen sementtinen painolasti, ja minä kävin koeuittamassa sitä. Se ui hienosti, paitsi että se vähän vuotaa. Moottori toimi hyvin. Tänään pakattiin tavarat, kun me huomenna lähdetään vikonloppuleirille³. Nenä vuotaa lääkkeistä huolimatta hirveästi.

Today we got the results for the history exam. I got 9-, so my grade will probably drop to 8. Mikko¹ found in a school desk a SERD-calculator that calculated: 5 - 3 = -2 and 4 - 1 = -3.² At home we put some cement ballast into Väinämöinen, and I tested it on water. It swam nicely, except it leaks a bit. The motor worked well. Today we did some packing, as tomorrow we will go to a weekend camp³. My nose runs horribly regardless of the medicine.

Perjantai

Tänään pääsimme jo kahdelta, joten minulle tuli odotustunti. Lehtosen Vesa¹ tuli linja-autossa meille, ja ihasteli meidän taloamme ja minun huonettani. Me lähdimme kello 16:45 rippikoululeirille. Tulimme sinne jo kello 17:15, vaikka piti tulla kuudeksi. Linja-auto oli ajanut ojaan, ja muut tulivat vasta seitsemältä. Me pelasimme pöytätennistä ym. pelejä. Puoli yhdeksältä sytytettiin iltanuotio, ja siellä laulettiin ja opeteltiin toistemme nimet. Yhdeltätoista piti mennä nukkumaan.

Friday

Today the school ended already at 2pm, so I got a one hour wait. Vesa Lehtonen¹ rode the school bus with me to our house, and was impressed by our house and my room. We left for the Confirmation School camp at 4:45pm. We arrived already at 5:15pm, even though we were expected at six. The bus that the others came on had driven off the road, and so the rest arrived only at seven. We played table tennis and other such games. At half past eight the evening camp fire was lit, and we sang and learned each others' names. At eleven o'clock we had to go to bed.

3. Confirmation School (which includes either a weekend or a longer camp) is a part of Finnish Lutheran tradition. I was not a devout Christian, so this was more about tradition than Christianity for me.
